Initial Release

So last weekend I spent a couple of days working on a small game that spawned from the idea that you as a player need something to survive and the longer you go without that thing the less you can see and so the harder it would be to collect that thing. Initially the idea was a squirrel collecting some nuts, but as I started playing around with Godot I started to tie in the "darkness" element with light.

If you were light, that needed to collect light, that was floating around in the darkness, and without it you couldn't see... then that would work.

This was never meant to be a complicated game and ideally I just wanted to get something finished for once. So I kept the scope super simple:

  • Collect light orbs
  • Without light orbs your vision slowly goes
  • Infinite levels which increase in difficulty
  • Scoring system
  • Arcade-y feel
  • Controller support

And this is what I came up with. I might make some more tweaks, but overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out and ultimately the fun me and my friends have had trying to get the highest score has made it worth it!
